These gradual changes reflect the bright future of LED light-emitting diodes in lighting applications.

LED is called the fourth generation Light source, with energy saving, environmental protection, safety, long life, low power consumption, heat, high brightness, waterproof, miniature, shockproof, easy dimming, beam concentration, maintenance is simple features, can be widely used in various indicators, display, decoration, backlight, general lighting and other fields.

LED advantages: High Electro-optical conversion efficiency (close to 60%, green environmental protection, long life (up to 100,000 hours), low operating voltage (3V or so), repetitive switch lossless life, small size, less heat, high brightness, rugged and durable, easy to adjust light, color diversity, beam concentration and stability, start without delay; LED disadvantage: High starting cost, poor color rendering, high power led efficiency low, constant current drive (need special drive circuit).

In contrast, a variety of traditional lighting has some shortcomings.

Incandescent lamp: Low electro-optical conversion efficiency (about 10%), short life (about 1000 hours), high heating temperature, single color and low temperature; Fluorescent lamp: The electro-optical conversion efficiency is not high (about 30%), environmental damage (including mercury and other harmful elements, about 3.5-5mg/only), non-adjustable brightness (low voltage can not be activated glow), ultraviolet radiation, flashing phenomenon, slow start, rare earth raw material price increase (phosphor accounted for the proportion of the cost from 10% to 60~70%),

The repeated switch affects the life span, the volume is large. High-pressure gas discharge lamps: Large power consumption, unsafe use, short life, heat dissipation problems, more for outdoor lighting.
